Labor day

of love

Paso Robles, California

What happens when crystal chandeliers, elegant tables, and high back chairs are combined with the open-air beauty of a family’s vineyard? A completely unique space is created for a couple to exchange vows. Just ask Leigh and Alex, whose wedding took place at the bride’s family winery and vineyard in Paso Robles, California.

To ensure that guests were able to fully relax and enjoy the events leading up to the couple’s complete destination wedding, Leigh and Alex chose to say “I do” over Labor Day weekend. To kick off the festivities, a rehearsal dinner was held on the grounds of the original York Mountain Winery. Décor included a chandelier of one thousand pounds of freshly-harvested Tempranillo grapes created by Stage Works and Jackson Durham Floral Event Design, which provided a stunning focal point for the room. Guests were seated for dinner at custom wooden tables draped in floral garland to enjoy pours from the winery’s brand, Epoch Estate Wines, and plated dinner service catered by Villa Creek. A welcome party set up amid the ruins of the winery’s original 1882 crush pad featured food trucks, dancing, string lights, and a custom monogram motif designed for the couple by DFW Events’ Melanie Frazier.

Leigh’s wedding gown—a Vera Wang design created with custom blush-toned coloring—defined the look of the ceremony and reception, both of which took place at Paderewski Vineyard. After arriving at the ceremony site in a carriage pulled by Percheron horses, Leigh walked arm in arm with her father down the aisle to join Alex beneath an archway of grapevines accented by a crystal chandelier. Other personal touches included musical arrangements presented by Leigh’s siblings, Lindsey and Jack—she sang an accapella rendition of “Feels Like Home,” while he played “The Feather Theme” on the piano. Rather than enclosing the reception inside a traditional tent, Stage Works’ Nelson Robinson designed an open structure covered in grapevines that allowed guests to dine beneath the stars. Airstars were lit to give the surrounding vineyard an atmospheric glow as midnight approached, and guests enjoyed activities including dancing, s’more roasting, bocce ball, horseshoes, and corn hole into the early hours of the morning.

the wedding

weekend of a lifetime

As for the final verdict on Leigh’s wish to bring the indoors, out? “The wedding was unbelievably perfect and felt like a dream,” said Leigh. “It was without a doubt the best weekend of our lives.”

While we could have built a tent and added draping, that wasn’t the point. We basically created an outdoor ballroom with the gorgeous vineyard as our backdrop. The landscape completely surrounded the reception, and it was absolutely unbelievable. Mary-Frances
