Rough Creek Lodge

An elegant color palette, western influences, and strong family ties combined to create the completely custom aesthetic of Elizabeth and Todd’s wedding weekend of events at Rough Creek Lodge in Glen Rose, Texas. After a rehearsal dinner on Friday, the Saturday-evening ceremony took place in a charming chapel lit with the couple’s monogram—a pattern also referenced in the couple’s wedding invitations, at the top of the bride’s cake, and in a unique etched ice block that was the focal point of the reception bar.

In lieu of hosting the reception in the venue’s on-site lodge, a tent was crafted from clear paneling to provide an uninterrupted view of the Texas night sky. Exquisite pieces from Brumbaugh’s Fine Home Furnishings in Fort Worth were hand-selected by Stage Works designer Nelson Robinson to create the eclectic mix of ottomans, benches, and wingbacks featured in the lounge area.

Although hundreds of guests attended Elizabeth and Todd’s nuptials, both wedding and reception remained intimate thanks to personal touches that held meaning for the couple. To reference the bride and groom’s mutual love for cutting horse racing, horseshoes were gathered and incorporated into the rustic-chic décor. Guests enjoyed watching video highlights of the bride and groom’s racing competitions that played above the entrance of the tent, and the groom’s cake was shaped to look like a saddle. The couple even exchanged custom boots as a wedding present—Todd’s were embellished with a tuxedo motif while Elizabeth’s featured vintage-style renderings of a cowgirl and cowboy.

perfect BACKDROP

They say that “everything is bigger in Texas,” and this couple’s departure was no exception. A surprise fireworks display at the end of the evening provided a picture-perfect backdrop for a goodnight kiss, after which the newlyweds boarded a helicopter to be whisked away to their honeymoon in dramatic fashion.

unforgettable weekend

Roughcreek Lodge was the perfect setting for Elizabeth and Todd to tie the knot. From the couple's Jack Russell Terrier, Thumper, serving as ring bearer, to the surprise fireworks gifted by Elizabeth's mother at the end of the reception, each moment combined to create a wedding weekend that was truly unforgettable.
