Classic cars, backyard games, southern cooking, and a surprise celebrity guest. This 50th birthday bash at Chicken Scratch had all the ingredients needed to create a perfect party atmosphere…and then some!

We had so much fun working with Lisa to plan a special event that her husband, Cary, would never forget. Cary’s enthusiasm for classic cars—especially his replica 1966 AC Cobra—served as the starting point for the party’s design and details. The look of the vehicle was specifically reflected via Cary’s custom party logo. Just like the AC Cobra, the logo was red with two stripes down the middle, and was showcased in various ways throughout the evening!
“We love Chicken Scratch because it is casual, outdoors, and perfect for backyard games and just having fun listening to music,” says Lisa of the event venue. “We always thought that would be a great location for a fun party.”
Muted floral arrangements from Bella Flora of Dallas provided the venue’s rustic picnic tables with a hint of color, while framed photos displayed throughout the event showcased memorable moments from Cary’s life. Other favorite decorative details included custom bar signage, colorful prints of classic cars, and the highly-trafficked photo booth, The Photo Bus.
“The best part of the party was when we had the star of Cary’s favorite show, Richard Rawlings from Discovery Channel’s ‘Fast N’ Loud’, come out to surprise him. That made Cary so happy,” says Lisa. “Another great moment was when Cary’s 90-year-old grandfather came up totally unexpectedly and gave one of the most touching speeches about Cary and his love of cars growing up. Our friends are still talking about that party and how much fun it was!”
After sipping on speciality jalapeño margaritas served in cups embellished with Cary’s logo, guests tucked into southern cuisine including fried chicken, brisket, mashed potatoes, and biscuits. Oversized slices of pecan and apple pies from Emporium Pies were handed out at the end of the event as favors, providing a sweet finish to a spectacular evening.
Lisa, we LOVED working with you to bring Cary’s celebration to life! Cheers to the next 50 years…and then some!
