Mackenzie + Dan’s Wedding at the Fort Worth Zoo

The last time Mackenzie and Dan made an appearance on our blog, they were in the middle of planning their wedding following an epic ESPN engagement. Since then, Dan has traded his Arkansas Razorbacks jersey for a Detroit Lions uniform and Mackenzie has made a change to her last name. Now that they’re newlyweds, we’re thrilled to be sharing all of the details from their beautiful wedding day at the Fort Worth Zoo!

Mackenzie and Dan are such a fun-loving couple, and from their popcorn-container ceremony programs to Dan’s donut wall at the reception, their wedding day was completely reflective of that. And talk about aisle style! Mackenzie’s Hayley Paige gown was a showstopper, and we absolutely loved the monogrammed converse she gifted to her bridal party—perfect for the dance floor!

The Something Pretty Floral team did an incredible job of translating Mackenzie and Dan’s colorful personalities into an array of vibrant design details. Between the flower crowns worn by the ‘maids, the gorgeous ceremony arch, and the arrangements accenting furniture from Perch Decor, we’re hard-pressed to pick a favorite floral detail. Also deserving of fanfare: the creative sports-centric nods to the couple’s love story and alma mater incorporated throughout the evening! Guests were encouraged to don a game-day worthy button bearing the bride or groom’s image at the reception, while “Team Skipper” foam fingers and pom-poms in Razorback colors were distributed for the couple’s farewell.

Mackenzie and Dan, it was such a delight to be a part of bringing your wedding day to life. We’re cheering you on as you begin your happily-ever-after!

Brittany Jones & Travis Mathews 3.2.13

Classic Other Summer

Brittany Jones and Travis Mathews were married at Highland Park United Methodist Church, with their reception at the Ritz Carlton, and we were so happy to help bring this wonderful couple’s wedding dreams to life. What a terrific love story they have! Brittany and Travis met when she was working as an assistant to Travis’s mother, real estate maven Erin Mathews, so it was especially fantastic for this couple to have so many of their family and friends in attendance at their wedding.

{Special thanks to Andrea Polito for sharing these lovely images of Brittany and Travis’s wedding day!}

The wedding weekend began with fabulous activities for all, including a ladies’ luncheon at the Zodiac Room at Neiman Marcus, while the men went to lunch at Sammy’s BBQ and then to the Dallas Gun Club. The rehearsal dinner was held at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek.

Brittany says she knew from the start of their wedding planning process that they would be married at the church they attend as a couple, the same one Travis grew up attending.

Britanny and her ladies prepared for the big day in a suite at the Ritz Carlton.

Brittany looked stunning in her Monique L’Huillier gown and hand-beaded chapel-length veil from Christina Garcia.

Britany’s choice of bridal flowers evoked a sense of elegance, and her bouquet was designed to include her favorite flowers: peonies, orchids and hydrangeas.

Brittany says she didn’t expect to be so emotional during her ceremony…

Brittany says she and Travis chose the Ritz Carlton for their wedding reception because of its one big ballroom, rather than a lot of separate spaces. Since Brittany’s parents live in Boerne and weren’t nearby to help with a lot of the wedding planning, it was especially thrilling for her to see their faces when they entered the gorgeous ballroom decorated for the big day.

The bride’s de Boulle engagement and wedding rings were dazzling!

Brittany and Travis danced their first dance to Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love,” and Brittany and her father danced to “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole.

Brittany worked with Hannah Kohler to arrange the chic, clean-lined décor including Lucite furniture and cubes, and the modern feel extended to the Lucite frames holding the menu cards.

One of the highlights of the night, enjoyed by the couple’s 225 wedding guests, was the milk and cookies bar, chosen because Travis far prefers cookies over cake.

The dance floor was filled for hours of high-energy celebration…

a2023Additional details from the wedding celebration include:

The party ended around midnight, when guests sent them off on their way with a shower of silver streamers as they dashed to the awaiting Bentley, and Brittany and Travis were soon on their way to their romantic honeymoon in Anguilla. We wish them every happiness in their future together.
