If we didn’t believe in “retail therapy” before, we certainly do now…or at least in retail romance! Mary and Brad met in April 2008 while he was working at Capital Grille in the Crescent Court and she was working at Stanley Korshak. “We bonded over our time living and traveling abroad throughout Southeast Asia,” says the bride. “After our first date, we were inseparable. Three moves, a new house, two puppies, and graduate school later, he proposed.”

Naturally, Brad’s proposal was just as connected to travel as the rest of the couple’s relationship had been. After surprising Mary with a stunning ring while visiting Japanese-style hot springs in Santa Fe, the duo set out to design a wedding day filled with whimsy and romance!

From the outdoor ceremony under an oak tree, to the Spanish acoustic guitar music that played at the couple’s reception, to the flower crown by Bows and Arrows that the bride paired with her long-sleeved gown from Berta Bridal, each and every detail combined to create an intimate, romantic setting. Fun “exceptions” to the overall aesthetic included Brad’s punk-meets-polished attire (we loved how he paired patent leather tennis shoes with his Vera Wang attire!) and the couple’s unique getaway vehicle. “In the spirit of rustic chic, we drove away in a Mule, or open aired utility vehicle, with flower petals in the bed that flew away as we drove off,” says Mary.

Other unique touches incorporated throughout the ceremony and reception included the bride’s selection of “Clair de Lune” as her accompaniment down the aisle, a beautiful reading of a Pablo Neruda poem during the ceremony, and the couple’s mobile photo booth, The Photo Bus. “Brad is really into Volkswagen buses, and we were able to find a fantastic vintage VW bus that had been repurposed as a photo bus—it was a huge hit,” says the bride of their selection.

As for the couple’s favorite moment of the wedding day?

“After my husband and I finished photos, we got a few precious minutes of alone time, where we proceeded to the apartment above the reception pavilion,” shares Mary. “There we shared a toast, hors d’oeuvres, and got to look down over all of the family and friends who had gathered for our wedding. It was so wonderful to have a minute alone to reflect on the perfect day, and toast to our new marriage.”

That’s a sentiment we’ll say “cheers” to any day! Congratulations, Mary and Brad—it was such a privilege to help bring your vision to life!

Birthday Celebration on a Private Ranch in the Texas Hill Country

Ranch BirthdayCelebration

This incredible weekend celebration (which was featured by Style Me Pretty Living) began with one simple request from the birthday girl: to bring all of her favorite people to her favorite place, her family’s ranch!

The weekend began with a welcome on the front porch, after which guests were escorted to our very own (and super chic) “RV Village” adorned Texas-style with a handmade wooden sign naming each accommodation after a tiny Texan town.

Guests put on their boots and headed to a welcome fiesta complete with margaritas and fajitas by Perini Ranch, not to mention Mexican roasted corn drenched in butter, all served on colorful Fiesta ware. Mexican inspired linens boasted bright colors and complemented the gorgeous wildflower centerpieces. Classic country tunes played as the night continued, and the evening was topped off by a Hill Country sunset.

After a barbecue lunch and a day of enjoying longhorns, skeet shooting, and fishing, guests cleaned up and got ready for the birthday celebration.

A lattice-lined tent was positioned in the middle of the property to take advantage of the sunset. The goal was to create a sense of “Southern Elegance” while not losing the feeling of being at the ranch.

Jackson Durham created incredible balance with elegant floral and place settings combined with the birthday girl’s favorite pumpkins and antlers that were found on the property. The windmill, a treasured find by the event’s hostess, created a focal point, as well as the Edison bulb light fixture that ran the entire length of the tent. Shelves stocked with found china and milk glass pieces added a cozy feel.

To close the evening, guests two-stepped the night away to the sounds of Three Fools on Three Stools and got a lesson in country western dancing under glowing stringer lights – a perfect ending to an unforgettable birthday celebration!
